Countdown to UGA-OSU: 5 Days (#5 Zach Mettenberger)

#5 Zach Mettenberger, QB
6-5, 235, Watkinsville GA (Oconee County HS), True Freshman

Mettenberger grew up just outside of Athens, and with some close ties to the University, he made an easy decision to commit to UGA. Most recruiting services put him firmly in the 4-star category as a prospect, as his size and arm strength project very well to the collegiate level. While he didn't get as much hype as fellow member of the 2009 signing class Aaron Murray, Mettenberger is a solid SEC prospect in his own right. He's certainly what one might call more of a "project."

Depth Chart Analysis: With 2 of the 4 scholarship quarterbacks being true freshman, one might expect that one of them will get a redshirt this year. If that is the case, chances are good that player will be Mettenberger. Murray might be a little more polished and college-ready at this point in their careers. But Mettenberger will get a good shot at it eventually.

Other famous #5s in UGA history: PK Kevin Butler, S Jermaine Phillips, PK Rex Robinson, RB Garrison Hearst, SS C.J. Byrd
