Countdown to UGA-OSU: 36 Days (Shawn Williams)

#36 Shawn Williams, S
6-1, 200, Blakely GA (Early County HS), True Freshman

Williams committed to the Dawgs early in the recruiting period last year, and was not heavily recruiting by other schools due to the fact that most knew he was a lock for UGA. He really flew up the charts of the recruiting services as a senior in high school, which is rare considering how early he was committed. He played alot of offense in high school, and from his videos looks like a typical UGA athlete. I'm guessing that the coaches will want to see him put on a little bit of weight before he's ready to make an impact.

Depth Chart Analysis: Willie Martinez has made some comments directly about Shawn in the past few days that might lead you to believe he's got a slight chance to see the field as a true freshman. Given the depth at safety, he's probably a prime candidate for a redshirt. But he could also be a sleeper that is just too solid to keep off the field. We've seen it with other freshman defensive backs in the past couple of years.

Other famous #36s in UGA history: RB Willie McClendon, WR (and current UGA RBs coach) Brian McClendon
