Countdown to UGA-OSU: 33 Days (#33 Chase Vasser)

#33 Chase Vasser, LB
6-3, 220, Gainesville GA (Chestatee HS), True Freshman

Note: Vasser will share #33 with RB Kalvin Daniels.

Considered one of the top 3 linebacker prospects in the state of Georgia (along with fellow 2009 signees Michael Gilliard and Dexter Moody), Vasser chose UGA over offers from Kentucky and Virginia Tech. He picked the Dawgs early in the process, during his junior before Signing Day during his junior year at Chestatee. He comes from a family full of long time UGA fans. Vasser's biggest asset is his tremendous speed (4.5 forty) for his size and where he plays. Vasser is also close to a scratch golfer, who is mulling the opportunity to try and walk-on to the UGA golf program.

Depth Chart Analysis: When Mark Richt recently made the comment that all skill position freshman would play this season, he also included linebackers and defensive backs in the equation. That means that unless Vasser moves to another position, he'll be playing this season, more than likely on special teams. Given the depth UGA possesses at linebacker, its probably a stretch to see him in the usual rotation on defense in 2009.

Other famous #33s in UGA history: RB Ronnie Stewart, RB Terrell Davis, LB Dannell Ellerbe
