Countdown to UGA-OSU: 32 Days (Michael Gilliard)

Michael Gilliard, LB
6-2, 210, Valdosta GA (Valdosta HS), True Freshman

Note: Gilliard will wear #55, while Brandon Bogotay will wear #32.

Coming out of one of the more storied (if not the most storied) high school football programs in America, Gilliard chose the Dawgs over just about everybody you could name, including Florida, Auburn, Florida State, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Miami. Much like Chase Vasser (the other linebacker commit from the 2009 class), Gilliard is fast and physical. He's got experience in the national spotlight, Valdosta having played Lowndes County on national television last year, so he'll fit right in at UGA.

Depth Chart Analysis: It looks like Gilliard, Vasser and the freshmen defensive backs will all play this year. Probably on special teams, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see both worked into the rotation on defense. Gilliard is probably best suited at Will Linebacker, but he could also move back to safety at some point if needed. He has plenty of speed to burn.

Famous #32s in UGA history: TB Lars Tate, FB Mack Strong, P Brian Mimbs
