Countdown to UGA-OSU: 27 Days (#27 Dontavious Jackson)

#27 Dontavious Jackson, TB
5-10, 205, Franklin GA (Heard County HS), RS Freshman

Jackson was one of the bigger signings of the 2008 class, after choosing the Dawgs over offers and strong coinsideration from such powerhouse programs as LSU, Penn State, Alabama and Clemson. After enrolling at UGA early, big things were (and still are) expected from him. For starters, he's the ideal size for what UGA fans have come to expect from a feature tailback (see Garrison Hearst and Knowshon Moreno.) He's also super fast, and very athletic. He might very well have played as a true freshman, but a wrist injury that he suffered during his senior year of high school kept him from being game-ready. That also got him a little out of shape, further complicating things for his development as a true freshman.

Depth Chart Analysis: Jackson now finds himself down the list at tailback due to the injury problems that have put him behind the curve. However, he takes a back seat to no one on the roster as far as raw talent is concerned. He might actually be built better than anyone on the roster to shoulder the load as a #1 tailback, but he's got alot of work to do. It is difficult to say how much he'll play this year, as right now he might actually be 5th on the depth chart behind Richard Samuel, Caleb King, Carlton Thomas and even true freshman Washaun Ealey. He's a guy to watch in the future, but he needs to get 100% healthy first.

Other famous #27s in UGA history: CB Ronnie Harris, CB Chuck Carswell, WR/PR Mikey Henderson
