Countdown to UGA-OSU: 62 Days (Austin Long)

Austin Long, OL
6-5, 270, Memphis TN (Briarcrest Christian), True Freshman

Note: The #62 is retired at UGA. See below for details.

Long was the #2 rated prospect from the state of Tennessee, joining the #1 prospect (Marlon Brown) in committing to UGA with the 2009 signing class. He was widely considered one of the Top 10 tackle prospects in America, and was also at Army All-American as a senior. He chose the Dawgs over just about every top school in the Southeast.

Depth Chart Analysis: Long underwent back surgery this past offseason and will miss the entire 2009 campaign, but more than likely that would have been the case regardless. He'll need to put on a little weight in order to contribute. Expect to see him become a big time player down the road.
