Countdown to UGA-OSU: 58 Days (#58 Demarcus Dobbs)

#58 Demarcus Dobbs, DE
6-2, 282, Savannah GA (Calvary Baptist School), RS Jr.

Dobbs was a solid DE prospect in 2006 when he committed to UGA, among the top in the South in fact. He was redshirted in 2006, but entered his first season on the field in 2007 as a 2nd stringer. 2008 was a breakout year for Dobbs, starting 4 games and perhaps being as productive as any of UGA's defensive ends. His 78 yard interception return for a touchdown against Central Michigan was one of the more memorable plays of the year, as was his interception to seal the game against Kentucky in the final minutes. He's known as a very hard worker in practice. A minor broken bone in his hand this past spring set him back a little bit.

Depth Chart Analysis: Dobbs is the clear favorite to win a starting job at one DE spot this fall, although that is far from set in stone at this point. He'll need to come out strong when fall practice begins next month. His experience is a key asset. His development this season (as well as that of his DE counterparts) will be one of the keys for UGA's defensive success.

Other famous #58s in UGA history: OL Kendall Keith, LB Tommy Lawthorne
