Countdown to UGA-OSU: 51 Days (#51 Akeem Dent)

#51 Akeem Dent, MLB
6-2, 225, Atlanta GA (Douglass HS), RS Jr.

Dent came to UGA as one of the top outside linebacker recruits in the nation, picking the Dawgs over Florida and Ole Miss. After a redshirt in 2006, he burst on the scene in Athens in his 2nd season, becoming the starter at sam linebacker toward the end of the year (starting 5 games.) As a sophomore, he'd start 10 games, his best performance coming in a 10 tackle game against Alabama. The thing I've noticed about Dent during his time at UGA, is that he always seems to find his way to the ball. It is that attribute that has probably led to his moving to mike linebacker for the upcoming season.

Depth Chart Analysis: Dent is listed as the #1 MLB on the depth chart heading into this year. He's come out of nowhere to be one of the more reliable defenders that UGA has on the roster. He may not be as spectacular or well-known as fellow linebacker Rennie Curran, but he's solid. Look for Dent to have a nice 2009 season.

Other famous #51s in UGA history: C Ken Davis
