Countdown to UGA-OSU: 48 Days (#48 Fred Munzenmaier)

#49 Fred Munzenmaier, FB
6-2, 225, Norcross GA (Norcross HS), RS Jr.

Munzenmaier was a solid fullback prospect when he arrived at UGA in 2006, although some believed that he'd ultimately end up playing defense (even though I'm not certain that he actually ever played defense in high school.) He was a brusing, downhill runner out of high school with nice pass-catching skills as well. After a redshirt in '06, he appeared in 10 games as a redshirt freshman, scoring a touchdown on the first carry of his career against Ole Miss, also his only carry that season. Last year, he carried it one more time, also a touchdown vs LSU. Pretty good touchdown to carry ratio.

Depth Chart Analysis: Munzenmaier comes into fall practice as the primary backup to Shaun Chapas. He should have much more of an opportunity to contribute this season, similar to how Chapas was worked into the offense last year after Brannan Southerland's injury. Bobo always seems to like to utilize the backup FB into pass catching situations out of the backfield. Wouldn't at all be surprised to see Munzenmaier catch a few this season.

Other famous #48s in UGA history: LB Frank Ros, LB Knox Culpepper
