Countdown to UGA-OSU: 41 Days (#41 Roderick Battle)

#41 Roderick Battle, DE
6-4, 260, Atlanta GA (Douglass HS), Sr.

For all the guys that seem like they fly through Athens are are gone before you know it, there is one that seems like he's been there forever. Battle fits into the latter category. After a redshirt in 2005, he played in every game of the 2006 season, even recording 2 sacks. Alot of fans don't realize that he actually started every game of the memorable 2007 season, although his stats don't reveal alot of production. Last season he missed 3 crucial games early in the season with a neck injury, but ended up starting 7 games, recording 9 quarterback hurries. His 5 tackles in the Kentucky game were a career high. He had shoulder surgery this past offseason and missed spring drills, but he'll be back for fall practice.

Depth Chart Analysis: Based on the relatively high amount of experience that he has when compared to the other defensive ends on the roster, Battle enters fall as the clear cut starter. He's got some guys behind him that seem ready to make a move, but expect Battle to retain the starting job. He's probably not going to put up high sack totals, but he's solid.

Other famous #41s in UGA history: DE George Poschner
