Countdown to UGA-OSU: 85 Days (Orson Charles)

Orson Charles, WR/TE
6-3, 230, Tampa FL (Plant HS), True Freshman

Note: I realize there is a good chance that Charles is going to end up wearing #7, but there are a number of TEs that we are talking about in the 80s, so I wanted to lump him into that group.

Charles committed to UGA this past March (after Signing Day), choosing the Dawgs over just about anybody else in the South (and nationally) that you'd want to guess. Widely considered one of the nation's top WR prospects (although most project him to ultimately play a "hybrid" TE position), Charles was a high school teammate of fellow UGA incoming freshman Aaron Murray. He's big, fast (4.5), and confident. He's going to have a monster career in Athens.

Depth Chart Analysis: It will be a shocker if the UGA coaches don't find a way to get him on the field this season. He's too valuable of a weapon to redshirt. He brings a skill set to the UGA offense that we may not have ever seen before. I hate to compare him to a player from a rival school, but he brings to mind the athleticism of former Florida TE Cornelius Ingram, and the speed of former South Carolina TE Jared Cook. But neither one of those guys is as versatile as Charles.

Famous #85s in UGA history: TE Ulysses Norris, OL Marion Campbell, WR Demiko Goodman

I'm really looking forward to him. He seems to have a Pollack-type swagger too. Just from seeing his film, he reminds me a little of Kellen Winslow Jr between the lines. Do you realize how many weapons our qb's have over the next 3 years!
