'Bama week

Looks like we are about to find out how good the young Ben Jones is. Stacy Searles is about to earn his paycheck. Meet Alabama NT Terrance Cody. That is 34o lb All-World OT Andre Smith on the right:

So, the black out is on. I am trying to figure this one out. It seems to me a touch premature to pull this manuever, however this is a big game. I can't tell if CMR thinks we aren't playing with quite the intesity that we were since UF or if this is his way of saying "our season starts now." Make no mistake about it, last year's AU blackout game was about the coolest thing I have experienced betwix the hedges, however makes me just a touch nervous that we are pulling this out already.

It's the players vote. Richt just agreed on the plane home from Tempe. I don't think it's Richt attempting to motivate his team this year, but I can see your point Bayou.

Personally, I think it's the perfect time to bring the black. Again, if it gets the team fired up, the fans will fall in.

I doubt Ben Jones will start against Mt Cody.

Honestly, I hope we don't try to run it at the middle of the line because we can't, at least not at the beginning of the game. Maybe we can wear his 400lb. a$$ down in the 4th quarter. We can only hope to contain him to 2 sacks.

Lets look at the remaining games in which we would have the option of pulling the Blackout.

Tennessee - Maybe, but they are a lackluster shell of themselves with a 2-2 record currently. The blowouts the last two years should be plenty of motivation (after last year, I stress the should be). Also, 3:30 game it doesn't look as cool.

Vandy - Worth it? No, I didn't think so. 12:30 or 3:30 game (if they are undefeated)

Florida (Home team this year) - Urban would have a fit and openly weep about it on air. He would then lay on his stomach and kick his feet...it would be a "big deal" (I'm secretly hoping we do this one too).

Georgia Tech - Really? Paul Johnson will give plenty of bulletin board material leading up to this one. Plus, 3:30 game.

That leaves Alabama: A night game against a Top 10 opponent that we beat in OT last year. Gameday will be here hyping the hell out of the game. Richt may be thinking this will get us on a roll.

Seems to me that Alabama is the perfect game for the Blackout.

Plus two top 10 teams in UGA/Bama. Amazing how few top 10 match ups have been played over the years between the hedges...PWD did a good write up on Georgia Sports Blog of that.

Oops...1-2 record. Likely 1-3 after this weekend though I will be rooting for them (I can't stand Auburn).

2-3 team coming into Athens doesn't make for much of a Blackout though.

After watching the replay of the game, I noticed something that was overlooked in all the #24 hype... King came in, was very efficient. Gained 4 yds a carry, looked confident and jazzed up. Look for #4 and #16 to have an impact come Saturday....a positive impact for those who don't like uno seis.

Anyone heard a word on southerland's status?

For those of you that haven't seen it yet, here is a video from tuscaloosa about why we are wearing black...

At minute 1:03 he says something very low in his voice...you will know it when you hear it.

Saw that bayou. Funny how people were making a big deal about what he said...It's football...SEC football. I loved it.

Bayou, Southerland will not play this weekend. He's working out as punt protector in practice, but will not be 100% until Tennessee.

Look for the Shlitz to bring some good stuff to the table tomorrow. Up $2,300 on the year and looking to make it more for the faithful.

Can we just go ahead and put Cuff out there and put evans on the friggin bench?!?!?! After watching the replay, it seemed that Cuff was, for the most part, in the right position to make a play, wasn't wandering around the f'in field looking for his dreadlocks, and seems to have the speed to cover what we need. I know he is young, but shit, he can't be any worse than the 2 we got ahead of him. This bullshit we got at the WC is killing us and it ain't gonna be long before someone torches us because of it.

Also, I hope CMR has put his foot up the team's ass for all the penalties. Now, don't misunderstand me, I am ALL for a little roughing the QB early on or a late hit when the game isn't on the line, just to add some intimidation to the situation and fire us up, however our penatlies are just atrocious....however the tripping bullshit wasn't our fault.

Corners and penalties - those seem to be our most glaring unacceptable weaknesses right now. I believe our young O - Line is busting its ass and will only get better as the season goes on, so I won't say that they classify as an unacceptable weakness.
