A few last questions and thoughts before the season...

If Urban Meyer loses 4 games again this year what will the excuses be? I still contend that he is a bit of a fraud. The '06 team was LOADED on defense. That title had nothing to do with him being such a great coach, it was the best defense in the country (which he inherited) carrying that team. The "...it's time for you to go. But just because you're a senior doesn't mean you have any value" quote after losing the bowl to Michigan just blows my mind. He would have never said that had they won. He's the ultimate sore loser. I mean some of those kids are the reason he got a title in '06. Plus the top 1% of 1% crap he spews. I think parents over time will see through him. With the recruiting coup of getting Aaron Murray(you just know this is driving CUM crazy) out of his back yard, if Meyer gets whipped by Richt this fall how will Gator Nation react?

Am I crazy to be so worried about the Bama game? Revenge game at South Carolina followed by huge OOC game at Arizona State followed by Bama at home. Even looking forward to the off week before Tennessee that follows the Bama game plays into this. Put it this way, I'm no where near as worried about Auburn on the road as I am Bama at home. Maybe I'm just crazy.

I don't care at all about the wonderful leg strength of Blair Walsh. Hitting 60 yard fg's means nothing to me. The accuracy under pressure from 4o yds out with the game on the line is all I care about. I'm praying this kid is consistent from 35-45 yds. Georgia has been spoiled with Bennett and Coutu. Here's hoping Walsh (or some walk-on on campus) is as accurate as those two. I'll take Bennett straight out of a music studio right now to win a game from 50 yds in. Kid was special. I hope Walsh has that "clutch gene" of his predecessors, especially the one pictured above.

Ok get ready to flame away...Who is the best player in the SEC East? Tebow? Stafford? Knowshon? Harvin? .... I say Eric Berry. Seriously. And Lord knows how I hate all things UT. He is the next Champ Bailey. Oh how I wish his daddy didn't play in Knoxville so that Georgia would have him right now. All of those players mentioned are special in their own right, but my vote goes to Berry. Start hating...

Best players are so hard to predict and I applaud you for bringing up this topic. Definitely not a superstar, but one name that will be popping up this year will be Chris Durham for the dawgs on offense, from what I've read he and Stafford have developed some great chemistry. Remember that first swing pass he took 30 yards on the first play from scrimmage in the GDay game this year? Think Elway to McCaffery

Great critical points on CUM and the trap that Alabama represents.

Also, I too am concerned about how Walsh will perform on the kicks he is supposed to make in the clutch. We have a long string of great kickers. What we need is one who can kick at LSU and in Jacksonville. Missed field goals in those two stadiums have cost us plenty. Here's to hoping Walsh has ice water in his veins.

You are right on to be worried about the Bama game... for the reasons you mentioned. We'll be a better team than the Tide, but every year there's just that one strange game that gets away from us.

I had been thinking that I'd put that one down as one of two losses in my predictions for this season... but then there's one thing that we have going for us... it's going to be a night game (I believe). That's a lucky break. It'll make the atmosphere electric and improve the Dogs chances of playing with focus and energy considerably. Now I can't make up mind mind whether to predict it as a W or L.

And I can't figure out which of the three games in the late-season gauntlet we are most likely to lose (LSU, FL, AU). What do y'all think?

hunker down dawg...'one who can kick @LSU and in Jacksonville' - so true. That's really all I care about. Like you said, someone who will perform on the kicks he is supposed to make.

I still get sick over the '04 UT game in Athens. Georgia ranked #3 coming off beating the break shoes off of LSU and UT getting killed by AUB and we $hit the bed. Yet making a simple 29 yd fg probably wins that game.

I, personally, am most worried about the Auburn game. We will be coming down off an emotional high after wins over LSU, FLA, and KENTUCKY.

On the other hand the away team has had success in the series lately except for the beatdown last year.

If we get past that one, we ought to have the momentum to get through Tech and the SECCG and on to the MNC game.

I forgot to add, nothing would make me happier than facing Bama, Ole Miss, Arkansas, or Miss. St. in that SECCG.

I will be rooting for those teams throughout the season.

Go Tide, Rebels, Hogs, and Bulldogs!

dog44...most likely to lose out of LSU, FLA or AUB? I'll go with LSU of those 3. Because of the talent they have and it being @LSU.

I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but I think we beat Fla and Aub by 10+ pts again. Wow, I'm usually so pessimistic, but I think CUM and his D is gonna get LIT UP by Bobo, #7 and #24. And Aub is overrated imo. New QB new OC new DC new offense = field day for #9, #35 and company...Aub will not be as good as everyone says.

I hear ya redcrake! That would be a dream SECCG. If we somehow get to Atl and face Ole Miss, Miss State or Arkansas, I will buy you two kegs of your choice for your tailgate in Atl. WTH, Bama too. I'll just be happy to be in it, because of what a win would potentially mean. Not to mention a win will tie UT at 2nd most SEC Championships all-time.

Bop,

Let's flip the script. We have had many sensational clutch kicks over the years. Parkman's knuckle ball to beat Tech. Hines beating Vandy. Bennett in Tuscaloosa. Butler over Clempson.

Positive vibrations for the new kid.

Good Dawgs!

I gotcha. No doubt about it...positive thoughts. Kids gonna be clutch. I shouldn't have ever written anything in the first place about fg kickers unless I was talking of a rivals. Should have simply stated that accuracy is all that I care about and I sure am confidant that we have an accurate one on campus. LOL...Dang, now I'm nervous.

I am just not getting it with Florida. I don't want to give too much away with having yet made my SEC predictions, but I don't know how Florida is going to be much better than last year. All of CUM's buddies in the media are pointing to being "loaded on offense" and the "defense being much improved." They've lost more guys for the season due to injury than UGA has, will also be relying on a true freshman place kicker, and the only difference in their offense is a transfer and a true freshman at running back. Not to mention that Harvin is dinged up, and nobody seems to know to what degree. 2 losses would be a good year for the Gators IMO.

Duvy, good call on Durham. Looks like he's earned a starting spot for the opener.

The game I think I am most worried about is Tennessee. I know we'll show up ready to roll for that one this year, probably wear the black jerseys, etc. I think they are going to roll Florida early in the season, and they just might get back the swagger they had 10 years ago heading into Athens. The fact they they've rolled UGA the last 2 years doesn't hurt their cause. The Dawgs have more talent down the roster, but I really don't think the talent gap between UGA and UT is all that great, at least not with the first 22 guys.

I think Harvin is stuggling much more than they are leading on. He is missing the first game and CUM (classic for a rival coach btw) has said that he isn't progressing like they had hoped/thought he would. Its a wierd injury and it just seems that they are saying just enough to get everyone off their backs but not telling the whole story. I think UF is in some serious trouble. Ole Ball Coach gonna run the score up on them after we beat the cocks by 25. UA game...not worried, because they still have JPWIII who I think blows donkeys in the off season. LSU will be screwed with the QB situation and complete lack of leadership at every level (especially at the head coach level...Miles is a classless jackass who may end up having the gatorade cooler slammed on his head permantenly by his own players out of hate and dispise after the 1st qtr against the dawgs....as I have stated in some previous posts). UT will be a 12 pt victory for the dawgs becuase our D is going to put UT starters on IR after the first quarter after last year. AU...not a problem....Cody Burns = moron and won't be able to survive the first quarter after getting abused by our ends. Shockingly enough, the game that makes me worried is Tech...we will be undefeated going into that game and they will have absolutely nothing to lose (due to going 3 and 7 by that point) and we will everything on the line. Just seems like a dangerous situation, however I think 99 out 100 times, UGA would beat GT by 20 pts with this season's team. Injuries and cops are our biggest hurdle. We stay out of the hospital and out of the booty house... we get ourselves a national title.

I hear you with the Bama game. I still don't know who to pick for Bama/Clemson. But after that game I'll know whether to get too worked up over the UGA revenge game.
