Countdown to UGA-GSU: 17 Days

#17 Jonathan DeLaureal, QB
6-2, 215, New Orleans LA (Isidore Newman HS), RS Soph.
DeLaureal walked on to the UGA squad in 2006 after a nice football and track career at the same high school that produced notable football players such as Peyton and Eli Manning, former LSU basketball player Randy Livingston, and Grammy winner Harry Connick, Jr. After winning the Iron Dawg and Defensive Scout Team Awards in 2006, DeLaureal provided depth at QB in 2007, and played quite a bit there in the 2008 G-Day game, drawing a nice review from Coach Richt about his play.
Depth Chart Analysis: With the lack of any real “blow-out” type games after the first game of the season, chances are probably not as great that DeLaureal will see the field this season. He does find himself as the firm 4th string quarterback behind Stafford, Cox and Gray.

I actually met Jonathan DeLaureal in the Tempe, Az airport coming back from the Super Bowl this year. I was very impressed with this young man. He knows that he will never play meaningful minutes while in Athens, but he still goes out there and busts his hump. I think that we need more kids like him on the squad. I only wish that everyone on the UGA squad had his attitude and drive.
