Countdown to UGA-GSU: 11 Days

#11 Ramarcus Brown, CB
5-11, 170, East Point GA (Tri-Cities HS), Sr.
It seems like just yesterday Dawg fans were celebrating Brown's switch from a commitment to Oklahoma, over to UGA. Now entering his senior year, one might say that his collegiate career has been a mild disappointment so far. A few nagging injuries and a suspension prior to the 2007 season have kept him from realizing what we've all thought we'd seen. The good news is that seniors have a way of finding themselves in their final year. Ramarcus has plenty of potential, as he is probably the fastest player on the team (sub-4.4) and has terrific athleticism (was also a very good RB prospect out of high school.) He's also one of the more experienced special teams players UGA has. Don't be surprised to see him block a punt or two this season.
Depth Chart Analysis: Defensive back, particularly corner, might be as deep and healthy a position as the Dawgs have right now, especially when you consider how the true freshmen have looked in fall camp (Boykin, Pugh, Commings.) Brown is backing up Asher Allen at one corner spot right now, but will probably find himself on the field at the same time as Asher, given the number of spread offenses the Dawgs will see this year. In addition, we'll see him returning kickoffs (although Caleb King, Richard Samuel and Carlton Thomas are also getting a good look back there.) Richt has made the statement publicly that he thinks Brown is currently #1 as the deep return man. Ramarcus is often a forgotten man, but this is a player that the Dawgs will need to step up and make a big play or two this season.

He has all the tools but there seems to have been a lock on the toolbox.......we shall see.
