Countdown to UGA-GSU: 58 Days

#58 Demarcus Dobbs, DE
6-2, 266, Savannah GA (Calvary Baptist HS), RS Soph.
After a recruiting process which brought him down to UGA and Georgia Tech, Dobbs chose the Dawgs in October 2005 and never visited another school. During his redshirt year, there was always the question of whether or not he'd end up at DE or DT, and I believe he actually played a little of both in 2007, while playing a good amount of special teams (appearing in all 13 games there.) His first career tackle came against Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl.
Depth Chart Analysis: Dobbs comes into the season as the primary backup to Rod Battle at one DE spot, and should stay there through the fall. With Lemon gone indefinitely and Lomax looking like he'll possibly be OK (according to the UGA website), depth at end seems to be a little more of a concern than we thought a few weeks ago. Dobbs could very well be another sleeper that sneaks in and snags multiple sacks this season. I've got some kind of sneaking feeling he's going to be an impact player this season.
