Countdown to UGA-GSU: 43 Days

#43 Charles White, LB
6-1, 220, Columbia SC (Blytheville HS), RS Freshman
White committed to the Dawgs prior to his senior season in 2006. He was widely considered a "sleeper" prospect, not highly touted coming out of high school. At the UGA camp in May 2006 he made a big impression on the UGA coaches, primarily through his top-notch athleticism. After being offered he quickly took the Dawgs up on the scholarship offer. After a redshirt in 2007 (which almost was pulled after the late season injuries at LB), he's ready to start seeing some significant playing time in Sanford Stadium. Also of note was his appearance on the 2008 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll.
Depth Chart Analysis: Thanks to the injury to Marcus Washington, it looks like White will head into fall as Dannell Ellerbe's primary backup at Mike Linebacker. Charles had a very nice spring and solid G-Day performance. There aren't many players on the team in better shape physically, so if he's figured out his assignments, we should see some impact this year and beyond.
