Countdown to UGA-GSU: 79 Days

#79 Justin Anderson, OG
6-5, 328, Ocilla GA (Irwin County HS, Hargrave Military Academy), RS Freshman
It blows my mind to think that "Bean" actually has 4 years of eligibility remaining at UGA. It seems like we've been hearing about him forever. Coming out of Irwin County, he was widely considered to be one of the top offensive line prospects in America. Bean committed to the Dawgs early in the process in 2005, over Georgia Tech, Michigan and Nebraska. He had to spend the fall of 2006 in Chatham VA at prep school, but reported to the Dawgs for spring practice the following season. Bean is a punishing run blocker that could be a staple at guard for the next 4 years in Athens. "He is gradually getting better and better and better," coach Mark Richt told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "He is strong. He has got size. He is the quickest guy we have.... off the football."
Depth Chart Analysis: Anderson is firmly planted at starting right guard as of now, but could be moved over to left guard depending on the decision that is made regarding Clint Boling for the first couple of games. Richt has not been shy in discussing Bean's inability to be consistent from play to play (which can probably be written off to inexperience at this point.) Vince Vance is lurking behind if Bean falters. Still, Anderson's overall talent (and size) cannot be denied, as neither can his importance to the success this season of what many consider to be UGA's most questionable unit (outside of the kicking game.)

When asked to play in the Army/Navy game out of H.S., he said "no", I'm going to Georgia". He thought Army wanted him to come play football for them. True story.

If he lives up to his potential he will be the first OL taken in the 2010 NFL draft.
