Countdown to UGA-GSU: 69 Days

#69 Andrew Gully, DT
6-4, 250, Vienna VA (James Madison HS), Sr.
As a walk-on at UGA in 2005, Gully redshirted and joined the scout team, won the Iron Dawg Award (for any player that attends every workout from the end of one season to the beginning of the next) and got himself a SEC Championship ring. His time on the field at Sanford has been limited since, playing in 1 game (WKU) in 2006, and 2 games in 2007. 2008 is off to a good start for Gully after winning Outstanding Defensive Walk-on coming out of spring practice.
Depth Chart Analysis: Perhaps the UGA website has him listed incorrectly, he's officially been a backup DE in the past, but they show him as a DT heading into this season. One would think (assuming the official roster is correct) makes him a little light for a DT. I'm sure nobody on Earth knows this better than Andrew himself, but chances are he doesn't see the field this year in anything but mop-up duty. Hopefully as a senior he'll get to trot out in a few blowouts.

Thanks for putting a spotlight on the whole team. Each player, whether they make it onto the field, play a role in the overall success of the team. I know that sounds like a cheesy platitude, but somebody has to say it!

Thanks, I agree. I only wish we had enough days to do a profile on every player that makes a contribution (either on Saturdays or on the Scout team.) One idea might be to start the countdown at 120 days next year so we can get everybody in (that we know about.)
