Countdown to UGA-GSU: 62 Days

Justin Fields, LB
6-1, 245, Savannah GA (Calvary Baptist School), RS Soph.
It would be hard for me to imagine that there is a better athlete in the history of Calvary Baptist School in Savannah. Besides the fact that he started every football game he played from his freshman to senior season, gathering the school sack and tackle records, he was also a 3-year letterman on the basketball team, and a 4-year letterman on the baseball team which won a state title in 2005 and state runner up in 2006. (He batted .459 and .444 as a junior and senior, respectively.) After coming to UGA, he walked on and redshirted on the scout team in 2006, and in 2007 won the Offensive Scout Team Player of the Year.
Depth Chart Analysis: Assuming that Christian Robinson and Nick Williams are redshirted, or that they are moved to other positions (which is possible), Fields could actually see some time at WLB behind Rennie Curran, Darryl Gamble and Akeem Hebron. That is probably the one LB spot where the Dawgs are deepest, so don't be surprised to see someone get moved around to Sam or Mike. Fields could provide some depth. At the very least, don't be surprised to see him get some time on special teams.
